A special place indeed and the ideal destination for an Autumn jaunt. You can reach Dalòo on foot from Chiavenna following the path that heads up from Pianazzola, or alternatively from San Giacomo Filippo taking on the twists and turns of the road open to vehicles for consortium members. Up until the fifties Dalòo was inhabited all year round. School, Parish and the community itself were all active participants, mainly occupied with agriculture and livestock. Today, as then, the meadows that stretch out behind the small church are perfectly manicured. The houses that you encounter along the path have almost all been restored and refurbished now, guaranteeing all modern amenities and comfort. Journey’s end for most outings is the magnificent vantage point which overlooks Chiavenna and from where the eye stretches southwards down to Lake Mezzola or east along the length of Swiss Val Bregaglia. It’s a panorama that has no equal in the entire valley and which in Autumn offers up some magical views to be admired at leisure, better still with a pair of binoculars.
