A new vital union is set to enhance the magnificent via Spluga which connects Switzerland to Italy. It’s already much-appreciated that the well-trodden path over centuries which links Thusis in Switzerland to Chiavenna has some fantastic panorama along the entire route. The new link which opened in spring this year takes the form of a bridge at San Guglielmo, a delightful corner of San Giacomo Filippo, already noted for its Sanctuary. Trekkers along the ancient pathway will now discover a less demanding section taking in the inhabited part of the village which itself has a particularly characteristic nucleus. It’s a sensible, practical initiative for wayfarers whether heading down to Chiavenna or for those going north to Campodolcino after which the magnificent Cardinello awaits.
