FROM HENCEFORTH PRODUCTS OF SWISS BREGAGLIA CAN BOAST A NEW TRADEMARK OF ORIGIN, RESERVED EXCLUSIVELY FOR THOSE PRODUCED IN ITS MUNICIPAL AREA. THE BREGAGLIA BRAND NO LESS.
In Bregaglia a whole microcosm of agri-food, artisan, and even cosmetic production flourishes yet which up to press has led a rather understated existence, however much appreciated by locals and a few other admirers knowing the valley. To give these products their due prominence, the territorial brand "Bregaglia" has been created, divided into two sub-brands.
"Bregaglia 360" certifies everything that is made within the Municipality uses raw materials of which at least 90% were obtained from the valley. The "Bregaglia" trademark distinguishes "using in Bregaglia" products where not all the necessary raw materials have been sourced from the area, such as sugar for sweets and jams, or cotton for textiles. Each product has a story to tell. Tales of farmers who for generations have been producing simple, genuine and high quality foods; a young Bregaglia chap who decided to bet against emigration who decided to open a business in the valley; stories of "strangers" who fell in love with the place and moved in, bringing with them skills and knowledge to be shared. The products and their background will be introduced, a few at a time, on the marcabregaglia.ch site and on relevant social channels.
There really is everything: Alpine cheeses, delicious honey from meadows bedecked with mountain flowers; traditional sweets such as the celebrated walnut or chestnut cake, and flours ground in ancient mills; but also surprising and original innovations. Yes indeed, plenty to discover about Bregaglia!
