Summer is my favourite season in which to enjoy our home in the mountains. Not only to take advantage of a warm climate and to breathe fresh air instead of the heat of the city, but also for the chance to spend time immersed in nature. Whenever time and commitments allow, I get in the car and head towards Vho, my summer refuge. During the journey I often stop in Novate Mezzola. The lido on the lake is ideal for a relaxing break, better still in the company of friends. A packed lunch in the picnic area is another jolly idea. Armed of course with a home-made cake.
One of the beauties of this place is the extensive cycle path stretching from the lake to Chiavenna itself and then onwards and upwards to the Acqua Fraggia waterfalls at Borgonuovo di Piuro. Perfect for lovers of two wheels or trekking. Time to get back in the car and head for my destination.
The lush green of the mountains provides a generous welcome and I look forward to a few memorable days of walking in woodland, hiking up to the summits and evenings under the stars. The mountains are my summer refuge, the place where I can recharge and boost my energy levels at the heart of nature. And considering summer and its fruits, raspberries in particular, I’m proposing a recipe for a typical alpine dessert.
