Lake Como is much appreciated for its beauty, panorama and the seductive little villages scattered along its banks. A haven of peace and tranquility. But what makes the Lario landscape an even more attractive proposition are all the possible adrenaline-based sports that are readily available to visitors. Regulars are well aware of just what’s on offer from spring onwards. Even seaplane flights and subacqua adventures.
But back on the lake surface itself, there’s enormous potential too. Windsurf, kitesurf or being carried along by the noted and eccentric Larian breezes on a sailing boat. Water skiing and wakeboarding are genuinely uplifting experiences. And the 21st century has also been introduced to the e-foil phenomenon, boards providing freedom and flight, using an underwater propeller and a wireless remote control.
And on calmer days the lake is ideal for canoe, kayak or SUP excursions. There’s also the highly original opportunity of taking out a typical rowing boat of Lake Como “the Lucia” a superbly romantic means of discovering the lesser-known and magical corners of Alto Lario, little villages midst the silence of the lake itself.
Perhaps an exciting yet less demanding activity is a motor boat outing. A chance to discover every angle of the upper lake, from a privileged perspective. Whilst flyboarding might be for the bolder amongst us, performing all manner of acrobatic circus tricks when suspended and hanging above the water’s surface! Ouch! Almost all the little communities of the upper lake have outlets that offer nautical services for water sports, navigation and who run courses for all ages and ability.
So what are you waiting for?
