The brainchild of Roberto Lisignoli,Bandadram is a “street band” made up of percussionists guaranteed to grab everyone’s attention thanks to their engaging rhythms, movement and a choreography which almost immediately brings to mind the Samba Batucada, a style of music that might be Brazilian in origin but which owes a great deal to the fusion of natural rhythms emerging from Africa. Look forward to cavorting along with them in Chiavenna during Brisaola Day!! I know I will.
The quite extraordinary pieces, all composed by Lisignoli himself are performed by 7 or 8 “voices” which interact with each differing type of drum, and thus create an engaging tonal variety and a range of melodic lines. This incredibly infectious group are represented in a triumvirate!! Students of the Scuola Civica di Chiavenna, those of the Associazione Mousikè based at Alto Lario, and from the Scuola di Musica Regione Bregaglia in nearby Switzerland. Lisignoli has worked as teacher of drum and
percussion within all three over the past twenty years. The group currently comprises around fifty elements, incorporating
a genuinely healthy mix of ages: children starting at six, teenagers through to adults. And in addition to a much anticipated “drum parade” through the town centre on the 2nd October, Bandadram will be on hand to introduce the joys of music through percussion to the young and maybe even the not-so-young. Teenagers anyway. A magical opportunity to bash away to one’s heart’s content on a wide range of drums and even form a band of your own for the afternoon!!
