THE STORY BEGINS IN HEIDELBERG WHERE CAROLIN AND TIMO AND THEIR TWO CHILDREN LIVE.
They have always loved the mountains. And due to a curious setof circumstances, they end up in Chiavenna where the family has established an entrepreneurial activity within the tourist sector."We&´ve always been attracted by mountains, in summer we like to walk, climb up along the via ferrata and do some skyrunning. In winter we love skiing and outings on snowshoes". On their meanderings along the Alpine arc Carolin and Timo chanced upon Chiavenna. "We had decided to tackle the Sentiero Roma to celebrate Carolin&´s birthday. July 2015. Chiavenna greeted us with rain. But the atmosphere was special and we have been coming back ever since". Clearly love at first sight.
The transition from tourists to entrepreneurs came pretty naturally. "December 2016 we realised we&´d like a second home in Chiavena and started to look for a baita to buy and renovate. We found a beautiful property above Mese that we have redeveloped, whilst also repairing a good part of the old dry stone walls and planting fruit trees on the terraces. Always using local materials and local professionals and respecting traditional architecture". In 2019 Carolin and Timo bought a domestic building in Chiavenna, in the old industrial district of Bottonera which they renovated tastefully and rent out to tourists who just like themselves appreciate this corner of the Alps. The Bottonera residence was an overnight success to the point that it&´s reserved pretty much all the time, and particularly by German guests. Carolin and Timo&´s operation is aimed at a less commercial public and so it&´s not found on the main booking sites. "We have created a private app, reserved for our guests, which informs them about excursions, culture, restaurants, shopping and more. Everyone becomes enchanted by Chiavenna&´s charm. Many like to simply stroll around the town, stopping for an aperitif or spending the evening in one of the centre&´s restaurants. It&´s as though they feel they have discovered something completely new". We have created the website www.bottonera.it and private App.
