Lake Mezzola now hosts a new refreshment spot, immersed in a captivating setting
The very idea of the new Kwatras kiosk was to make Verceia with its long lakeside more attractive for both locals and tourists alike. The exercise took off thanks to the initiative of two good friends, both "adopted" by Verceia thanks to their respective wives: Sicilian Antonio Scarvaglieri and Michele Pedroncelli ski instructor from Madesimo. During the winter they are both to be found working in the ski rental shop of Michele&´s family, the
Pedro Ski Centre. Kwatras derives from the name in dialect of the typical small boats used by fishermen on Lake Mezzola. It literally means "four planks". A simple but effective boat, just like the kiosk, straightforward and authentic. The kiosk represents a small corner for relaxation and tranquility where you can have an aperitif, eat a sandwich or ice cream but also sip a coffee and chat with friends. It&´s situated on the banks of the lake at Verceia, alongside the Valchiavenna cyclepath, a perfect refreshment halt for both cyclists and ramblers, but also easily accessible by car with parking options. It&´s open from April to October from breakfast to after dinner.
