ART AND THE LANDSCAPE. ALESSANDRO MARTIRE AND ROBERTO MOIOLA DESCRIBE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE.
Have you ever tried to look beyond a simple landscape, allowing yourself to be overwhelmed by emotions. Take Madesimo and its mountains. Sometimes what our eyes take in is taken for
granted, whilst for others the magic remains. And that&´s why we chatted with musician Alessandro Martire and photographer Roberto Moiola: two artists who observe the world through different eyes and express their talent with compositions and images. Both linked to the territory - Martire played his piano on the snows at both Alpe Motta and Montespluga in summer at the dam above the Cardinello, whilst Moiola has been photographing and bringing our mountains to life for years; the two clearly have a particularly strong bond with landscape and nature. Their work could not exist without it and all around becomes an inspiration.
Charged with emotion. For the two artists the choice of location is fundamental to the art itself. "The scouting phase is part of the compositional process," says Alessandro "where there are places of beauty my music finds refuge". The final concert is part of the composition itself: "I want my projects to see fulfillment in their completion; the work begins with me writing and ends with the involvement of the public, the aim being to provide them with intense and exciting experiences". "When I see an interesting location I start to fantasise," explains Roberto however "I imagine it in other seasons or in dreamy sequences: this is the starting point for planning and the experiments that lead to the shot itself ". Both globe-trotters, Alessandro and Roberto have taken their art to some of the most remote places on earth. "I have always lived and photographed with the same passion be it on a distant journey or within my own Alpine valleys," confirms Moiola. "Love for Nature comes from ourselves and not the places we visit". "It&´s all about finding refuge for my music," Martire concludes "whether it be close to home or at the ends of the earth". Mountains, nature, photography and music all intertwine for both of them, but using differing art forms to bring them to life. "I happen to be whisked away by a photograph, especially if it has a naturalistic angle" explains Alessandro "They are both mesmerising and engaging, particularly for composition".
For Roberto sunrise and sunset are two moments in which the emotions collide - "the sounds of nature are incomparable. Lights, sounds and colours together form a melody that always renews my desire to return to the mountains, inspiring my art". And to understand a little of the emotion that the artists want to present to the public, we suggest you put on headphones and play Bright Sky by Alessandro Martire: "It&´s perfect hand in hand with the night photograph taken two winters ago at Andossi" suggests Roberto Moiola. "A piece that begins sweetly and then is hit by impromptu shudders, a bit like the wind that blusters into this photo and its scenario, as if creeping into a nocturnal and silent landscape".
