Vertemate Franchi Palast

Der Vertemate Franchi Palast befindet sich in der Lokalität von Prosto di Piuro, im Bregaglia Tal, nur zwei Kilometer von Chiavenna entfernt: die Dorfwirtschaft blühte sowohl wegen dem Handel mit den mitteleuropäischen Ländern als auch wegen der Steingutbearbeitung auf.

Der Palast wurde während der zweiten Hälfte des XVI Jahrhunderts von den Geschwistern Guglielmo und Luigi Vertemate Franchi errichtet, die einer der vermögendsten Familien angehörten, die in der Gemeinde Piuro ertragsreichen Handel trieben. Der Palast ist das einzige Gebäude, das vom Erdrutsch, der das ganze Dorf und viele der Dorfeinwohner im 1618 bedeckte, verschont blieb.
