Snowmobile Excursions

Madesimo welcomes you with more than 70 kilometres of trails dedicated exclusively to snowmobiles. A vast snow-laden parkland awaits within which you can head off on guided excursions or on audacious independent outings, incorporating dinners in refuges on high, whilst of course always respecting the Alpine code of practice. And to point you in the right direction look no further than Team Adventure Madesimo, who will provide everything required for the boldest of winter visitor, from the latest model of snowmobile itself to qualified instructors who provide all manner of vital information to ensure that pilots manoeuvre with optimum safety. Amongst the most popular destinations is the Passo Spluga skirting the frozen lakes up to an altitude of 2300m and the Swiss border itself. Please note that anyone who intends to take advantage of piloting opportunities must have a B driving license.

A winter wonderland
Yes indeed with quite extraordinary timing, the year’s first snows happily led to an early start to the winter season 2018/19, and saw Madesimo perfectly-placed for the full range of skiing and winter sport activities. So here’s a quick reminder of all that’s on offer to any lucky visitor planning a holiday this winter in Valle Spluga.
The ski slopes: Madesimo boasts more than 50 kilometres of piste ready to be discovered, situated at altitudes of between1550m to those of upwards of 3000 encompassing Pizzo Groppera. And to get skiers and snowboarders all the way up, there are fully 14 state-of-the-art transport systems. Along with the cableway, the ski area is equipped with 2,4 and 6 seater chairlifts all with automatic coupling. The transport systems serve 37 different piste, all linked together by well-considered ski trails.

Baby-park Larici: at the very heart of the ski area, in fact immediately in front of the Larici refuge, is the baby park, imaginatively equipped for the very little ones. The area is open from Monday to Friday from 9.30 to 12.00 and from 13.00 to 16.30 whilst at weekends and public hols. it’s active from 9.30 right through to 16.30. The baby park has a convenient moving “staircase” to ensure that absolutely everyone can make it to the top of the safeguarded area. From there the little ones can make their way down on skis or by a range of enjoyable lifebelt “chums”. It’s the perfect spot to make that first tentative entrée onto the snow.

Madepark: at 1800m this popular area is easily accessed by the Larici cable-car. It comprises two well-defined zones which between them provide facilities for sports fans of every level. Designed to provide modest challenges for beginners there are flat box and kiker from 2m to 4m and 6m. Other structures incorporate down rail, rainbow, plug, mail box, cistern and a box proffering a range of further challenges completes the first level. The second area is dedicated entirely to the more demanding winter sports enthusiast. It boasts a kiker of fully 12m constructed above an artificial terrace fitted out with a lengthy landing zone. The park is open daily from 10 until 16 except during periods of adverse weather conditions.

Night skiing: Skiing at night is a fabulously original experience that just has to be experienced. And Madesimo gives you every opportunity. From 19.00 to 22.45 the Pianello/Montalto slope which is served by the Larici cable-car will accommodate both skier and indeed non-skiers who might wish simply to go up to enjoy dinner at the refuge itself or at nearby Acquarela. All in all, for lovers of the winter snows Madesimo guarantees something for everyone.
